How do we tuft the smaller details?

Is the pattern too small to tackle with a tufting gun? Afraid you might cut through the fabric or go outside the lines? You can solve all of this with an embroidery punch needle!
Is the pattern too small to tackle with a tufting gun? Afraid you might cut through the fabric or go outside the lines? You can solve all of this with an embroidery punch needle!
In the following video, I'll show you how to stitch even the tiniest details beautifully, without any issues.
What you'll need:
- An embroidery punch needle
- Yarn
- Scissors
- And your two hands!
The trick also involves knowing how to properly frame your work!
Tufting Tip: It’s worth starting the stitching process with the details while the shape is still clear, making it easier to access.
Now, let’s take a look at how to do this exactly:
- Thread your yarn into the embroidery punch needle, which we will not use in the traditional way this time.
- Once ready, push it through the canvas, then, while half-holding the frame, use your other hand to hold it from the other side to maintain the length.
- Repeat this until we fill in the desired shape.
- You can cut the loops created either now or during the trimming process.
- As shown in the video, the result is precise stitching, perfectly along the yarn lines. This may not have been achievable with a tufting gun.
